A festive market that joyfully combines culture, tradition, taste and discovery: besides guaranteeing the excellent quality and variety of food, it will enable visitors to rediscover the many artisans who will create and exhibit their artistic wares.
Our wonderful University Square is hosting various stands and gazebos where you can buy everything. Our University Square is transformed into a Christmas Village, made of colors, music and flavors! The cosy cabins are packed with a range of handmade arts and crafts, beautiful decorations and stocking fillers. vendors are selling hand-crafted local crafts, ornaments, small gifts and of course the local foods and holiday traditional treats. Go hungry and bring a bag to carry some goodies home.
There is a Living Nativity , with real people, in Santa Maria la Scala. The living Nativity scene can be visited from 17.00 on 26 December , 29 December and 4-5-6 January. The Magi by horse are expected on 6 January in time for the Epiphany, or the Feast of The Three Kings. The initiative, which involves 200 volunteers taking turns, is undertaken by the parishioners of Santa Maria la Scala, in Acireale, to help raise funds to repair their church's roof. There is no entry fee but visitors are invited to make a donation. This small hamlet is certainly worth a detour for its charming fishing port and for its "Crib of the fisherman".
