From 1 to 10 March 2019, the Archaeological and Landscape Park of the Valley of the Temples in collaboration with the City of Agrigento organizes the 74rd Almond Blossom, the purpose is to celebrate the coming of spring with the Blossoming of the Blmond Trees, and rejoice for the comeback of life.
The initiative aims to enhance the artistic expressions that belong to the cultural tradition of the peoples, and in particular those manifestations that have been recognized by UNESCO as a "heritage of humanity". In this way we intend to create an ideal link between the material heritage represented by the archaeological area of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, which was recognized by UNESCO in 1997 and which in 2015 was declared "of exceptional value for humanity" ", And the intangible heritage, in particular in relation to the expressions of the performing arts.
Therefore, a selection of selected groups will be proposed, whose repertoire includes songs and dances recognized as intangible heritage.
The week consists of three key moments: the ignition of the tripod (5 March), the torchlight of friendship (6 March) and the final show with the delivery of the Golden Temple, Sunday, March 10, at the foot of the Temple of Concordia.
The entire event is also dotted with open air performances, in theater and parade, as well as cultural events.
The event is of particular importance in today's complex international context, as it intends to launch a message of peace and harmony among nations when it stages performances by representative groups of the various peoples of the planet.
